Norman Manley (Passionned)
For the last 20 years we have been talking about Business Intelligence, often under different names but always the same message “Information is the key to Success” , the problem being that our sophisticated systems cost too much, were too difficult to use and seldom reached more than 10% of the users – we failed! Now, for the first time in a generation there has been a quantum shift in the marketplace, the top players like IBM, Oracle, SAP and Microsoft have decided that Business Intelligence is interesting and at long last the companies have realized that you need to change the culture as well as the software. Information is still the key to success – but now we know how to make it work.

Operations have become the competitive battleground in the current business climate in every market. As products and customer facing technologies become similar, it’s operational improvement that presents the greatest up-side opportunity. Successful organizations, those who approach operational excellence, fuel their advantage through information on demand, the application of advanced analytics - descriptive, predictive, real-time, and embedded in business process – and an organizational commitment to move beyond automation to optimization. In this presentation we will examine the business conditions, technical capabilities, and organizational approach required to move ahead of the competition, leading to an end state built on the ability to measure everything and dynamically react better than anyone else.

Interview Tim Jennings (Butler Group)
BI has the potential to be a disruptive technology within the organization and an enabler of innovation. We will look at the concept of “inside innovation”, using BI to improve operational efficiency and process performance, and enhance the competitive position. We will also discuss innovation outside the organization, and the use of BI in a collaborative role to enable interactions with business partners and customers, and the rapid evolution of business models. The presentation will examine the technology and organizational change that is required to take advantage of this model, and show some examples of companies that have benefited.
